In my case, my Framework 16 with a Nvidia RTX 5070 was freezing while playing Diablo II Resurrected.
Turns out the XFCE compositor was to blame, so we can just add this to the Steam launch options
xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -s false; %command%; xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -s true
